Architect Daniel Sundlin of Bjarke Ingels Group Announced as a Keynote Speaker for CitiesAlive 2026 in NYC Sept 30-Oct 3

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is pleased to announce Daniel Sundlin, Architect and Partner at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), as a keynote speaker at CitiesAlive 2026 from Sept 30 to Oct 3 at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge.
Under the theme “Future Proofing New York With Green Infrastructure”, CitiesAlive 2026 will bring together hundreds of industry professionals, including researchers, policymakers, architects, manufacturers, contractors and designers to explore how cities can respond to better manage stormwater, heat, biodiversity, health, and jobs.
Daniel Sundlin studied Architecture at the Royal Institute of technology in Stockholm and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. In 2008 he joined BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group’s Copenhagen office. After moving to New York City to help open BIG’s US office in 2010, Daniel was named partner in 2014. Daniel has worked on many of BIG’s most prominent projects and winning competitions, such as the Wildflower Film Studios that is currently in construction, the Heights Public School in Arlington, the VIA West57 Residential building in Manhattan, and the new Google Campus in Mountain View.
He’s currently involved in several international urban-scale projects such as Penang South Islands in Malaysia, Barranquilla Regional masterplan in Colombia, the OCEANIX Busan sustainable floating cities prototype in collaboration with The United Nations, and The East Side Coastal Resiliency project in New York City. Daniel is a regular guest critic at numerous architecture schools and has participated as Juror at multiple American Institute of Architects (AIA) design awards.
At CitiesAlive 2026, Sundlin will join several other keynote speakers addressing the challenges and opportunities facing cities today. The program will also feature trainings, panels, tours, and networking opportunities.
CitiesAlive 2026 takes place September 30 to October 3, 2026 at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. Conference hotel rooms are expected to sell out soon. Attendees are encouraged to book their accommodation as early as possible to secure a room at the special conference rate of $369 USD per night.
Student scholarships are also still available for eligible students interested in attending CitiesAlive 2026. Applications are open while funding remains available.
