Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) announces Designing Irrigation Systems, a masterclass at CitiesAlive 2026 led by Andy Creath, Founder of Green Roofs Colorado, and Gaurav Mathur, Senior Product Manager, Landscape Irrigation at Hunter Industries.

As climate conditions become increasingly unpredictable, irrigation plays a key role in the long-term performance of green roof systems. This masterclass will provide an overview of irrigation system design, installation, operation, and maintenance for green roofs and planted landscapes.

Topics will include system types, water use efficiency, control systems, installation considerations, maintenance practices, and common challenges encountered in design and implementation. The session will focus on practical approaches that support plant health while managing water use effectively.

Andy Creath founded Green Roofs Colorado in 2006 and has worked on green roof design, installation, and maintenance projects across the region. He also contributed to advancing green roof policy and implementation in Denver. Mathur is Senior Product Manager for Landscape Irrigation at Hunter Industries, where he focuses on developing irrigation solutions for commercial and residential landscapes.

Other master classes at CitiesAlive 2026 include Designing Green Roofs for Biodiversity, Integrated Solar Green Roofs Workshop, Applying Biophilic Design, Designing Green Walls, and Designing Blue-Green and Green Roofs for Maximum Stormwater.

CitiesAlive 2026 will take place September 30 to October 3, 2026, at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. Register before June 30, 2026, to save $100 USD with early bird pricing.
