Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) announces Designing Blue-Green and Green Roofs for Maximum Stormwater, a masterclass at CitiesAlive 2026 led by Zach Waliullah, Senior Sales Representative at Sika Corporation.
This 90-minute masterclass focuses on how blue-green and green roof systems can be designed to improve stormwater retention and manage runoff in urban environments. It will provide an overview of design principles, system performance, and real-world applications.
Participants will review system configurations, stormwater management strategies, and case studies demonstrating how these systems are used to meet regulatory requirements and improve resilience in dense urban contexts. The session will also address key considerations for integrating these systems into building design and construction.
Waliullah has spent more than a decade working with architects, engineers, and contractors across the Northeast United States on waterproofing, roofing, and green roof systems. His work focuses on supporting the implementation of rooftop solutions from concept through construction.
Other master classes at CitiesAlive 2026 include Designing Green Roofs for Biodiversity, Integrated Solar Green Roofs Workshop, Applying Biophilic Design, Designing Green Walls, and Designing Irrigation Systems.
CitiesAlive 2026 will take place September 30 to October 3, 2026, at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. Register before June 30, 2026, to save $100 USD with early bird pricing.
