As cities across North America continue to face growing challenges related to stormwater, extreme heat, biodiversity loss, and aging grey infrastructure, we are inviting policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and industry professionals to share their ideas to scale up green infrastructure solutions. We have launched an anonymous policy survey to obtain your feedback.

The survey is being conducted in support of a panel discussion, “Exploring Policies & Programs to Rapidly Scale Up Green Infrastructure”, during CitiesAlive conference in New York City Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, 2026. The policy panel session on October 2 will examine policies and programs that result in more rapid and widespread adoption of green infrastructure.

The session will be moderated by Shino Tanikawa, Executive Director of the NYC Soil & Water Conservation District, and feature leading experts in urban stormwater management and policy, including Melissa Enoch, Assistant Commissioner for the Bureau of Environmental Planning and Analysis at the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. “We need to implement ways to speed up adoption of green roofs and walls,” said Steven W. Peck, GRP, Founder, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, “to future proof New York and other cities.”

Policy Session topics will include policy development, municipal programs, implementation barriers, funding mechanisms, and new strategies for accelerating the adoption of green roofs, green walls, and other forms of living architecture.

Whether you work in government, landscape architecture, planning, engineering, development, research, or the green infrastructure industry, your perspective can help shape the conversation about the future of green infrastructure! Fill out the survey today.
