At Its AGM in Basel, Switzerland, the World Green Infrastructure Network Elected Three New Board Members and Steven W. Peck as Its New President and Marta Weber Siwirska as Its New Vice President

June 20: 2025: Brussels - The World Green Infrastructure Network (WGIN) is pleased to announce that Steven W. Peck, GRP, GRIMP, Honorary ASLA, founder and president of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (North America), has been elected as President of WGIN for a two-year term. Professor Marta Weber- Siwirska, president of the Polish Green Roof Association was elected as the new Vice President. Professor Manfred Köhler, who has provided outstanding leadership in advancing green infrastructure across the globe as the President of WGIN will now serve as Past President for a two- year term.

“Over the years, WGIN’s leader have worked to promote urban green infrastructure solutions thanks to the inspiring leadership and the huge knowledge of Professor Manfred Köhler. He helped the World Green Infrastructure Network to lay the foundation for where we stand today. As we look to the future, I am excited to work with Marta Weber-Siwirska and my new colleagues to continue the mission of rapidly deploying green roofs, walls and other forms of green infrastructure in cities worldwide,” said Steven W. Peck, in reflecting on this important milestone in WGIN’s development.

In addition to the new President, WGIN is proud to welcome several new members to its Advisory Board:

  • Sylvia van Meegan, Vice President of Der Bundesverband zur Gebäudebegrünung (BuGG) (the German Associations for Green Roofs and Walls) brings a strong scientific and organizational background with over a decade of leadership managing BuGG’s office, organizing international congresses, enhancing digital platforms, and fostering member relations.

  • Luna Dana Rodriguez, architect and co-founder of GICEP, WGIN’s chapter for emerging professionals. Her work focuses on wildlife-friendly design through green infrastructure and biomimicry. In 2024, she co-organized Biopolis at COP16 and led the 1st Global Get-Together for Young Green City Professionals. She bridges research, education, and community work across Latin America.

  • Damian Tang, affiliated with the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) and representing Singapore is an experienced sustainability leader with executive roles across various global networks, academic expertise in landscape architecture and circular economy, and a proven track record in strategic planning, public engagement, and green innovation.

The Vice-President team has also been strengthened with the addition of Professor Marta Weber Siwirska, President of the Polish Green Roof Association She joins Hema Kumar, Vice President, WGIN, and founder of the Indian Green Infrastructure Network (IGIN). WGIN is also pleased to announce the appointment of Julian Briz, founder of Pronatur (Spain), as an Honorary Board Member, in recognition of his long-lasting contribution to the green infrastructure movement.

The current WGIN Advisory Board is now composed of:

Steven Peck, Manfred Köhler, Hema Kumar, Julian Briz, Aslan Jonoubi, David Brasfield, Marta Weber Siwirska, Jure Sumi, Eugena Lin, Benedict Eussman-Quainoo, Zoe Avery, Corne Van Garderen, Senthil Nathan, Leila Tordelund, and the newly elected members Sylvia van Meegan, Luna Dana Rodriguez Lopez, and Damian Tang.

These leadership changes underscore WGIN’s ongoing commitment to global collaboration, diversity in governance and the advancement of green infrastructure and other nature-based solutions worldwide.
