New Podcast on Sustainable Futures: Exploring the Healing Power of Nature with Clare Cooper Marcus

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is pleased to launch the latest episode of its podcast series Sustainable Futures: Designing Green Communities and Buildings, featuring the renowned planner, educator, and researcher Clare Cooper Marcus. Listen to the episode now in the latest issue of the Living Architecture Monitor.

In this episode, host Steven Peck, Founder and President of GRHC, speaks with Clare about her pioneering work on the relationship between design, place, and human wellbeing. Clare shares insights from decades of research and practice in housing, open space design, and healing landscapes, offering an illuminating look at how the natural world can nurture physical, emotional, and social resilience.

A distinguished voice in landscape architecture, Clare reflects on how biophilic design and access to natural spaces can profoundly influence how we live, work, play, and heal. The conversation explores the restorative power of nature - from forest bathing and therapeutic gardens to the broader design of communities that support health, connection, and belonging.

Clare Cooper Marcus has authored and co-authored numerous books and research studies on social issues in the built environment, including Healing Gardens: Therapeutic Benefits and Design Recommendations and Housing as If People Mattered. Her work has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA), and through a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship.
