New Podcast on Sustainable Futures: Connecting Children With Nature With Laura Mylan
Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is pleased to launch the latest episode of its podcast series Sustainable Futures: Designing Green Communities and Buildings, featuring award-winning communicator and seasoned nonprofit executive Laura Mylan, Chief Strategy Officer of the Children & Nature Network (C&NN). In this episode, host Steven Peck, Founder and President of GRHC, talks with Laura about her passion for expanding children’s access to nature and her leadership role in building a global movement that ensures safe, equitable opportunities for all children to live, play, and learn in nature. She shares insights into how connections with the natural world support physical and mental wellbeing, while also fostering resilience, creativity, and stronger communities.
Laura also highlights C&NN’s innovative programs and partnerships with educators, policymakers, and citizens across the U.S. to reimagine cities and communities as places where every child can thrive outdoors. The conversation explores how nature connection not only shapes healthier futures for young people, but also strengthens collective action on today’s most pressing social and environmental challenges.
Laura Mylan’s background includes leadership roles in the nonprofit sector, city government, riverfront redevelopment, and public relations and advertising agencies. She is a Master Naturalist, a Marshall Memorial Fellow, and serves as editor of Finding Nature News. At C&NN, she leads the external relations team, advancing the case for nature connection and supporting children and nature advocates worldwide.
