Learn How to Kickstart Green Infrastructure at the Virtual Policy Symposium

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities is excited to announce the Policy Symposium on September 7 from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM EST. Join us to learn from a variety of North American policy makers about how to implement transformative policy to create a more resilient future with green roof infrastructure. The policy symposium is designed for policy makers and advocates alike. It will provide detailed case studies of green roof policy making and strategy in Portland, OR, Toronto ON, and Cambridge, MA.

Given the development industry focus on first costs, green roof policy continues to be essential to help make communities more livable by managing stormwater, reducing hot summer temperatures and providing much needed amenity spaces on rooftops,” said Steven W. Peck, GRP, Founder and President, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities North America Inc. “Learn from the pros who have developed and implemented such policies at this symposium,” he added.

Expert speakers include:

  • Shayna Stott, Senior Planner, City Planning Division City of Toronto, presenting on using municipal planning tools and the Green Roof By-Law, to grow sustainable communities

  • Elizabeth Hart Morris, President of Green Up Roofing, presenting on Portland’s green roof policy implementation and future developments

  • Melissa Ludtke, Mothers Out Front, presenting on citizen advocacy for green roofs in Cambridge Massachusetts

  • Peter Lowitt, Director at Devens Enterprise Commission, presenting on an update on green roof policies in Devens and the newest developments

  • Steven W Peck, Founder and President at Green Roofs for Healthy Cities; Founder at Green Infrastructure Ontario and WGIN, presenting an overview of policy tools to advance green roof market development
