CitiesAlive 2026 Call for Proposals and Research Papers Are Now Open

The Call for Proposals and Research Papers for CitiesAlive 2026 is now officially open. As the 20th annual conference dedicated to advancing green roofs, green walls, and living architecture across North America, CitiesAlive 2026 takes place November 11 - 13, 2026 in Brooklyn, New York. It will feature a dynamic program of presentations, research, and dialogue shaping the future of green infrastructure. Submit a proposal here.

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) invites designers, policymakers, researchers, practitioners, students, and emerging professionals to submit their work for consideration. Presentation abstracts are due March 30, 2026, and research papers and posters are due May 1, 2026.

CitiesAlive 2026 will feature a mix of 30, 60, and 90 minute sessions that are practical, engaging, and grounded in real-world applications. GRHC is seeking proposals that are interactive, dynamic, and aligned with the conference’s topics of interest, which include: environmental justice and community-driven infrastructure, stormwater management and coastal adaptation, green infrastructure policy and incentives, high-performance green roof and wall design, economics of stormwater retention, technology and performance monitoring, building science and waterproofing, biodiversity and native planting, urban heat mitigation, installation and long-term maintenance, innovation and emerging technologies, award-winning and case study projects, and food production.

Researchers are encouraged to submit abstracts for one of three presentation formats:

  • Research Track: A 25-minute presentation with a peer-reviewed proceedings paper

  • Emerging Professionals Track: A 10-minute presentation based on an abstract

  • Poster Session: Ideal for students and early-stage research

All research submissions should include a 250-word abstract outlining novel and applicable work advancing green roof or living wall knowledge.

Submitted proposals will be reviewed and ranked by the CitiesAlive 2026 Advisory Committee or, in the case of research submissions, by a panel of academic experts in the green infrastructure field. Notifications will be issued once the review process is complete.

Individuals interested in sharing their expertise, project work, or research findings at CitiesAlive 2026 are encouraged to submit early. Full submission guidelines and links to the proposal forms are available here.
