Sustainable Futures: Designing Green Communities and Buildings Launches Episode 3, Water, The Universal Connector

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is pleased to announce the third episode of its new podcast series: Sustainable Futures: Designing Green Communities and Buildings: A Living Architecture Monitor Podcast. will feature different experts working in the field of green infrastructure design and implementation. Episode three features Howard Neukrug, Executive Director at the Water Center at the University of Pennsylvania. This episode, “Water, The Universal Connector”, goes into detail about the importance of water relative to the city, and to stormwater management. Howard Neukrug is also a keynote speaker at CitiesAlive 2022.

Howard Neukrug describes water as "The universal connector”, because “Everything leads to water and water leads to everything”.

Neukrug serves 2.3 million people and is responsible for all aspects of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater management. He is also a professor, and advisor to the US EPA, and the creator of Philadelphia's $2.5 billion "Green City, Clean Waters" program, which has changed how urban America approaches water management. Neukrug will also be a keynote speaker at CitiesAlive 2022, where he will showcase the amazing efforts to not only manage stormwater sustainably, but also work to attain social equity while doing so.

Hear Howard Neukrug speak at CitiesAlive 2022 in Philadelphia. CitiesAlive 2022 will be a multidisciplinary conference where we will be highlighting innovative green roof designs, groundbreaking policies, and the best products and services in the green infrastructure industry, specifically focusing on green roofs and walls. The conference is approved for up to 18.5 Continuing Education Credits for ASLA, AIA, BOMI, IIBEC, and GRP.
