New York Green Roofs Seeking Project Manager/Estimator

PROJECT MANAGER / ESTIMATOR - LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION AND DESIGN

New York Green Roofs is a design/build and bid/build urban landscape firm specializing in green roofs and other environmental forward green infrastructure and landscape projects.  We work in the commercial, high-end residential and institutional markets, creating and maintaining some of the world's most iconic rooftop landscapes.  As a small, high caliber team of 20 collaborators who love what we do, we are looking for a career minded, estimating and design focused project manager to join us in producing award-winning landscapes on-structure in and around NYC.  You’ll be a part of a management team of seven (including the two owners) and an integral part of the organization’s Sales, Operations and Design Departments.  Our office and shop are located in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  Our Management team embraces a hybrid work environment; we are in office on Mondays and Thursdays and on site and remote the rest of the week.  

In this role you will do the following:

Estimating 

  • Thoroughly examine and understand all bid documents including landscape drawings, specifications, scope sheets, etc.

  • Perform accurate and reliable area and material take-offs

  • Communicate RFIs clearly to design team and/or general contractors

  • Develop accurate, and well written proposals within the company bid format for presentation to the client

  • Follow company sales strategy throughout the estimating process

  • Attend site visits / client meetings as needed

Project Management

  • Act as the main point of contact and client liaison on projects

  • Work collaboratively with NYGR’s Construction Manager to ensure each job is produced on time and on budget

  • Meet with architects, landscape architects, general contractors, and clients as needed

  • Take on-site measurements, field verifications and project photos

  • Assemble and deliver submittal packages as required per project

  • Procure, coordinate and schedule materials deliveries and subcontractor activities

  • Work on occasion with the field team

  • Review on-site work for quality control and adherence to specifications

  • Manage and track project changes and adjustments

  • Work with bookkeeper to ensure work completed is billed

  • Review job costing and production reports to identify and resolve variances

Design

  • Produce accurate shop drawings, construction details and plans as needed for project deliverables or in-house production

  • Opportunity for design/build and consulting related work: drafting, specifications, planting plans, precedent image packages, client presentations

 

You Must Meet These Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the landscape industry

  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines

  • Be self-motivated and able to work on a team and independently

  • Friendly and comfortable creating and maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, and crew members of all ages and from all backgrounds (this includes face to face interaction, phone calls, emails, text messages, etc)

  • Fluency in AutoCAD

  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite

  • Mastery of Word and Excel

  • Self-motivated, responsible, disciplined, and persistent

  • Have a valid driver's license

  • Own work boots and clothes that can get dirty when you are out working with the field team

  • Degree in landscape architecture, horticulture, construction/building management or a related field desired

  • Experience in the Green Roof Industry a plus

  • NYC experience is preferable

Salary, Benefits, PTO – Salary commensurate with experience

This position is open immediately.  Less than 1% of NYC buildings have green roofs.
