Green Roofs for Healthy Cities is Pleased to Release the Free Water Issue of the Summer Living Architecture Monitor Magazine

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities is pleased to announce the launch of Living Architecture Monitor magazine Summer Water Issue which features articles on the complex relationship between water and living architecture.  Right on the heels of its CitiesAlive 2024 conference announcement in Toronto Nov. 6-9 last week, the launch of the Water issue of the LAM underscores the importance of scaling up the implementation of living architecture and green infrastructure in cities to address the extreme disruption of climate change.

“Water is essential for life,” said Steven Peck, GRP, founder and president of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and editor of the Living Architecture Monitor. “Implementing green infrastructure, or nature based solutions so that we can convert our impervious cities into sponge-like cities, is an essential mitigation and resilience strategy that we need to ramp up quickly. We will be exploring these opportunities in the LAM and at the 20th Anniversary of CitiesAlive in Toronto this Fall,” he added.

The following articles and authors are available in the Water Issue of the free, online Living Architecture Monitor magazine:

  • How the Movement Toward Sponge Cities Can Help Soak Up Extreme Rainfall, by Joyce McLean, Co-editor, LAM

  • Growing Green Roofs and an Industry Under Toronto’s Green Roof Bylaw, by Shayna Stott, Senior Planner, City of Toronto
