Biodiversity is a crucial factor in the survival of our species and the stability of our plant. To that end, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities is excited to launch a new course on designing for biodiversity as the kickoff to a new biodiversity focused training series to be released through the end of 2022.

Introduction to Biodiversity and Ecodesign: Concepts and Best Practices for Living Architecture is a detailed review of the fundamentals of biodiversity, and how to support it through green infrastructure. Biodiversity is a critical component of life on Earth, and provides a multitude of direct and indirect benefits to daily life, and is essential to our long-term survival. This course examines what biodiversity is, the impact it has on our planet, existing supportive policies, and how we can design our communities to enhance and support it.

Additional courses on elements and aspects of biodiversity will be rolled out in the coming months from a number of biodiversity industry experts, such as:

  • The role of native plants in green infrastructure with Ed Snodgrass

  • Flora and fauna community and habitat development with Dustin Partridge

  • The critical role of maintenance in enhancing and protecting biodiversity with Cynthia Pohl

  • Biodiverse systems and design elements with Bruce Dvorak

These courses and several others in development will join the multitude of courses, conference recordings, and recorded lectures available through the Living Architecture Academy (LAA). All paid courses are eligible for AIA and ASLA CEUs, are self paced, and never expire, so visit the LAA and start your professional development journey.
