15th Annual Design Awards of Excellence Winners Announced

Innovative Projects Including a Rooftop Wheat Field in Chicago Win Awards of Excellence.

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities is pleased to announce the 2017 Design Awards of Excellence winners in advance of CitiesAlive: 15th Annual Green Roof and Wall Conference in Seattle, WA, taking place September 18-21. These awards celebrate outstanding contributions to the green roof and wall industry across North America.

“This year most of the West Coast based designers won half of the awards with many outstanding projects which will be explored at CitiesAlive in Seattle Sept.18th-21st” said Steven W. Peck, GRP, Honorary ASLA, Founder & President, GRHC. For the first time ever, food producing roofs took three categories in this year’s awards.

Awards in twelve categories recognizing accomplishments in research, policy development, advertising design and corporate leadership were deliberated on and awarded to the most engaging projects and engaged individuals in the industry. Green Roofs for Healthy Cities is proud to recognize and celebrate these examples of excellence, and share them with attendees at CitiesAlive. Read more about these projects in the Fall Issue of the Living Architecture Monitor, available now.

This year’s CitiesAlive theme, Building Resilience and Equity Across Cascadia, highlights cutting-edge designs, new technical performance research, innovative policy work, a trade show with industry leaders, and informative professional training and exclusive tours.
